e-Forum Organized to Discuss Impact of Access to Information

An e-forum has been scheduled to exchange ideas about how information centers and libraries can promote the adoption of access to information as part of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

The forum will begin Monday, September 7 and run through Friday, September 18. It will take place at this website: https://dgroups.org/fao/ciard-econsultation/sdgs-impact-access-information-societies/

The e-forum is free and open to the public.

This event is a collaboration by the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

The event will offer webcasts by experts to provide important background information, along with dialogue and discussions around three main questions:

  1. What are the ways that access to information (and more narrowly open access) contributes to sustainable development?
  2. How can libraries and information centres promote the adoption of access to information as part of the "post-2015 agenda, in particular SDGs"?
  3. What can we do collectively - for example, through COAR, FAO and IFLA- to raise awareness of open access and access to information in the context of SDG discussion?

For more information, please see this blog post announcing the forum.
