HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Course
The Swiss Tropical Institute will offer "Rational Management of Medicines," a two-week course focusing on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria November 1 – 13, 2009 in Ifakara, Tanzania.
Tanzanian and international facilitators will coordinate with local health professionals to create a challenging, educational atmosphere. The course will be supplemented by hands-on field experience and will combine theoretical knowledge with the realities of providing medicine access to a rural district.
Course objectives include the following:
- Enabling health professionals in understanding and applying the concepts and principles of essential medicines and rational medicine policy and management;
- Facilitating recognition of the necessity of a national and international medicine policy environment; and
- Application of practical field experience for rational medicine management within different health system contexts.
