Resource Spotlight: Positive Practice Environments in Uganda: Enhancing Health Worker and Health System Performance
This paper explores the current key issues facing Uganda's health human resource climate with particular attention to practice environments including recruitment, retention and productivity of its health workforce, to identify the HR solutions that are being or have been employed to address these main challenges. The paper will also help in identifying knowledge gaps for future in-depth research and recommendations for future strategies.
This information will serve as background information for the implementation of the Positive Practice Environments Campaign on the national level. The case study of Uganda will also contribute to the knowledge base being amassed by the World Health Organization related to "increasing access to the health workforce in remote and rural areas through improved retention" of health workers.
