WHO Public Hearings on Draft Code for International Recruitment of Health Personnel

The World Health Organization (WHO) encourages all persons concerned with the international recruitment of health personnel to contribute to web-based public hearings on a draft code of practice on the international recruitment of health personnel from September 1-30, 2008.

Health worker migration has increased significantly in recent years, with migration patterns becoming more complex and involving more countries. Countries with crisis-level shortages in their health workforce are experiencing further weakening of already fragile health systems. This seriously impedes achievement of the health-related Millennium Development Goals.
